Developed for the McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation and the Design Center of Pittsburgh, we designed this streetscape master plan for the McKees Rocks downtown district along Chartiers Avenue. Our first course of action was to change the traffic pattern, returning two-way traffic to Chartiers Avenue. We also designed traffic encroachments or "bump-outs" for pedestrian and vehicular safety. We included rain gardens for stormwater management, new lighting, street furniture, landscape design and parklets, in an effort to reconnect the citizens of McKees Rocks to its downtown.
Additionally, we worked with Keystone Structural Solutions to survey two historic anchor buildings on Chartiers Avenue, and Delta Development to conduct market studies of the region to best determine what types of businesses were most needed and wanted in the district.
