Oakland Catholic High School - Joan of Arc Building

Pittsburgh, PA

Oakland Catholic High School contacted us to review a previous recommendation to demolish the historic Joan of Arc building on its campus. Utilizing our extensive background in historic renovation projects, we provided an independent report that concluded the school could save nearly one million dollars by choosing renovation over new construction. We organized a series of community charrettes that helped define a building program, not only for this building but also the entire campus. Renovations were extensive and included opening up completely unused double-height space; making all levels accessible; and creating a new, logical floor plan.

"LGA was responsible for the total restoration of the Saint Joan of Arc Building, a 100 year old structure. The results were outstanding. I cannot think of another firm that I would entrust with architectural work. Besides their fine designs, they make the project easy."
