For the restoration of this landmark cathedral, we divided the façade into three restoration zones. The first zone included those areas of the stone most visible from the street, where damaged stone was replaced with new stone. The second zone included those areas less visible from the street, where damaged stone was replaced with a Dutchman stone patch. The final zone was comprised of areas at the highest elevation of the building. Here, we removed only the damaged portion of the stone and patched in new applied material. This method of restoration saved the owner nearly one million dollars.
