University of Pittsburgh - Trees Hall Fitness Center

Pittsburgh, PA

We were asked to renovate this long under-utilized and windowless space deep in the heart of the Trees Hall, a 1960s building on the University of Pittsburgh campus. The program involved converting this space into a 21st century physical education classroom. Despite the limited budget and extraordinary HVAC requirements, we proposed cost-effective and dramatic lighting solutions that enlivened the space while meeting the budget requirements. Additionally, we included new flooring and floor-to-ceiling mirrors in our design to further improve aesthetics, and to make the space brighter.
