SAINT PAUL CATHEDRAL

DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH

  • Pittsburgh, PA

LGA was commissioned to restore the historic masonry, the roof, and stained-glass windows. In order to tackle such a large project in a cost-effective manner, we divided the exterior facade into three restoration zones. The first zone included those areas most visible from the street, where damaged stone was replaced with new stone. The second zone included those areas less visible from the street where damaged stone was replaced with a Dutchman stone patch. The final zone was comprised of areas at the highest elevation of the building, where we removed only the damaged portion of the stone and patched in a new applied material. This method of restoration saved the owner nearly $1 million.
