2023 AIA Pittsburgh, Social Impact in Design

The Clairton Inn Apartments project consists of 49 rehabilitated and newly constructed apartment units in the central business district in Clairton, PA. Of the forty-three units, nineteen will contain one bedroom, thirteen will contain two bedrooms, and eleven will contain three bedrooms. Every unit will be within the range of net square footage requirements and storage space requirements, set by PHFA, and conform to all codes referenced in the Selection Criteria. This project took the fabric of an abandoned block and turned it into affordable apartments for Clairton, a library and shop are in the works for the first floor as well.
