MOUNTAINS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

LGA Partners collaborated with Indiana Regional Medical Center (IRMC) to design a state-of-the-art, 31,000-square-foot behavioral health facility in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. This new center addresses the critical shortage of mental health services in the region, offering 44 inpatient beds to serve adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. LGA’s design focuses on creating a healing environment that balances patient privacy with accessibility, incorporating individual care spaces as well as group therapy rooms to foster a therapeutic atmosphere.
The facility will bring essential mental health care closer to home, alleviating the need for patients to travel long distances for treatment. This project is especially timely given the increased demand for mental health services, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has exacerbated strain on emergency rooms and existing behavioral health facilities. With this new center, wait times will be reduced, and patients will receive timely care in their local community.
Designed with efficiency in mind, the facility is set to enhance mental health care by improving access to emergency psychiatric services. It will alleviate pressure on local hospitals and emergency departments, where patients often face long waits. By increasing the capacity for mental health services, the new center will help prevent overcrowding, reduce patient displacement, and provide faster, more effective care to those in crisis.
The collaborative effort between LGA and IRMC underscores a shared commitment to improving mental health care for the community. The project received a $4.8 million funding commitment, signaling strong support from both the community and healthcare leaders. With its focus on safety, healing, and accessibility, the new facility is poised to make a lasting impact on the well-being of the Indiana County population.
