MCKEES ROCKS STREETSCAPE

Winner of AIA 2015 Regional + Urban Design: Certificate of Merit

LGA developed a design for the downtown district of McKees Rocks in conjunction with the McKees Rocks CDC and the Design Center of Pittsburgh. The first action we took was to return two-way traffic to Chartiers Avenue, naturally reducing vehicular speed and making the business district more pedestrian friendly. We then took steps to create better pedestrian and vehicular safety and created opportunities for landscaping and the addition of rain gardens and permeable pavers for storm water management. We developed new connections to Chartiers Creek, allowing McKees Rocks Residents to reconnect with this natural asset.
