After a thorough search for a new world headquarters that aligned with their brand’s vision, GNC selected 75 Hopper Place, the tallest building in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. LGA Partners was chosen as the architect for this interior fit-out of over 70,000 square feet on three floors.

LGA’s design addressed a range of programmatic needs, including a new communicating stair, executive suites, private offices, open workstations, a creative/production studio, private terraces, coffee bars, and a fully-functional GNC retail store. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the full team – LGA, Rycon Construction, Inc. Tower Engineering, and Taylor Structural Engineers, Inc., the construction was completed in only 8 months.

Located within a former warehouse in the historic Strip District, the new 120,000 square foot HQ blended old Pittsburgh’s industrial look and feel with today’s thoughtful design and modern technology. As the local architect, LGA provided in-depth knowledge of local codes and processes in addition to refining and completing construction documentation once the design intent had been established. Phase I + II is were completed in late-2021, with Phase III in scheduled for mid-2022.

In 2024, LGA Partners relocated its headquarters to Four Gateway Center in Pittsburgh’s Golden Triangle, transitioning into a 20,000-square-foot space designed to support the firm’s continued growth and commitment to collaboration. The move from Uptown to downtown Pittsburgh reinforced LGA’s deep ties to the city while positioning the firm at the heart of its architectural and business community.

The new office was designed to enhance connectivity and creativity, featuring an open-concept layout that supports a flexible and dynamic work environment. A mix of individual workstations, collaborative zones, and dedicated meeting areas fosters seamless teamwork, while integrated technology ensures efficiency across all project phases. Employee wellness and sustainability were key priorities, influencing the selection of energy-efficient lighting, ergonomic furnishings, and biophilic design elements to create a productive and inspiring atmosphere.

Maximizing natural light and views of the city, the office layout encourages interaction and idea-sharing while maintaining spaces for focused work. Strategically placed breakout areas and communal gathering spots promote both structured collaboration and organic connections. Situated in the heart of downtown, the location provides easy access to public transportation, restaurants, and cultural destinations, further embedding LGA within the pulse of Pittsburgh’s urban fabric.

The move to Four Gateway represents a new chapter for LGA Partners—one that embraces innovation, strengthens collaboration, and reinforces the firm’s dedication to architectural excellence.

LGA converted the 6th Floor of Rockwell Hall into three business centers, a supporting conference space, a computer lab, and an energy monitoring suite. A two-story lobby at the connection to the Rockwell Hall Skywalk serves as the main entrance into the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business, with concession space adjacent to the Lobby.

The LGA Corporate Design Studio has been working with a long-time client and international clothing retailer American Eagle Outfitters on their New York City Design Center + Offices. With team members having previously designed their 330,000+ square foot International Headquarters in Pittsburgh and numerous retail stores throughout the US, the client requested our professional guidance as they expanded their NY office onto the top two floors of the historic Tiffany & Co. Building in Manhattan. Included in the design is enough space for nearly 150 team members, numerous workrooms and storage areas, showrooms, fitting rooms, and ample space for collaboration, among other things. Our design also reclaimed and refreshed the grand Tiffany Glass skylight previously covered in an older renovation.

The main anchor of the Campus Master Plan was a new 70,000 square foot world headquarters for Dixon Valve. Outgrowing their current offices, Dixon looked to construct a new modern office that could house its expanding workforce. Clustered around a central, grand atrium, the new building provides much-needed space while reinforcing Dixon’s values of honesty, integrity, and respect.

LGA has worked with The Buncher Company for over 20 years, contributing to a variety of projects including office buildings, industrial complexes, and site feasibility studies. Most recently, we were tasked with designing a new speculative office building in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. This 8-story structure features ground floor retail, two levels of parking, and five floors of office space. With a highly efficient 96% floor plate and sustainable design elements, the building is poised to attract tech-savvy enterprises while supporting Buncher’s vision for a modern, eco-friendly office complex.

We began our work with SAE International by reviewing organizational lists and growth projections provided by the client. Our team then developed and conducted Workplace Surveys to gather additional information and assist in establishing project goals. Using data from these sources and investigations of the existing facility, we helped orchestrate a multi-phase Master Plan designed to modernize and transform their corporate headquarters into a space that will inspire team members and showcase their Brand. The first phase, a renovation of a large portion of the first floor, is now complete.

LGA Partners is working with the University of Pittsburgh to restack and renovate the iconic Cathedral of Learning. Since starting with flex office space on the third floor, we have completed work on nearly 25% of the floors of the structure. Our team has been able to balance the sometimes competing needs of each department affected by these projects while creating a restacking and renovation program designed to resolve the requirements of each.

With PNC Bank looking to refresh the look and feel of its local branches, they turned to LGA Partners to help them realize their vision.  Our team implemented a more flowing, client-centric design with bold colors and contemporary furniture. The success of our initial work with the financial institution has led to LGA completing architectural work on a half-dozen locations to date, both renovations, and new ground-up branches, throughout the region.
